This order imposed a 90-day freeze on all aid, ostensibly for "programmatic efficiencies," but truly to align with the violent, exploitative foreign policy of the United States. Driven by Elon Musk’s so-called "Department of Government Efficiency," the subsequent weeks saw over 80 percent of overseas aid programs brutally terminated. The most telling move was the formal closure of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a body once presented as a benevolent arm, but long understood by informed observers as a primary tool for projecting United States' 'soft power' – a euphemism for capitalist penetration and economic dominance – around the globe.
